Wordy Thursday... the rest of the story...

i thought we'd take another look at these birdies... cause there is a little story to tell... sorry... i love this photo and had to figure out a way to post it...

i have always loved birds... but when many of you were posting the white bird shakers at Target... i just had to have them... and heck... i think they were only $6.

Then one day, i was shopping in an antique shoppe that i frequent in Geronimo, Texas... and ran across some Luray and the little blue bird shakers (which are not Luray)... $8.

Then one day, shopping for a wedding gift at Marshall's... i found the Sparrow's on pedestal shakers... which i actually display as an art item in my office... but they are shakers... on sale at Marshall's for $3. But the little shakers that i really love... and apparently you do too... were the little vintage birdie shakers... they are sooooo adorable...

While shopping in Wimberley, Texas with my sweet stepdaughter Jen last month... Jen wanted me to point out a few things that i really liked... she was looking for a Mom's Day gift for me...

we found these little birdies... $14 at one of the booth vendors... but marked 50% off... So for Mom's Day, i got these little sweet birdies from Jen..

and they are truly my favorites! and that's the rest of the story... down here in French Lique...

Wow! I have trouble keeping up with ONE blog and you have 3! I wasn't sure where to comment, but I'm impressed!

Thanks for visiting and especially thanks for following. I'm in the double digits now! Look out!

I am so glad these little brown fellows got to fly away to French Lique. I can tell they will be very happy.
What a sweet stepdaughter in deed.

Going to see a 60's musical at the Emily Ann Theatre here in Wimberley. Have you had the opportunity to visit there when you come to town? If not, next time I will have to give you a tour.

Later,
c

Dixie,
Thanks for all the kind comments. I'm having so much fun meeting everyone. I've got two spots left on my dinning room shelf for salt and pepper sets. Wordless wed. was really inspiring and so was the "rest of the story". I went hunting today but no luck.

Your mother's day gift is special because your daughter thought enough of you to take you shopping and ask for your opinion. wow.

I forgot to mention yesterday...
I traveled through Geronimo Wed. on my way to do a show in Seguin. I was drooling past each store...I could hear the RUSTY BUCKET calling my name. Where have I been? under a rock I guess! I have to make a trip there soon. Is there a better day than the rest to shop? Are you planning a trip there soon? We could meet.

Another day of mowing...

I love your birdies, but what I am really impressed with is that you found the exact font to match the "i" in the photo of the eyes.

Kathy... I try every little trick in the book to please the reader... even typeface... ;)

and you noticed! Now I'm really happy!

Hey, I just love to try different fonts. I have found a wonderful website for free fonts, and I have a gazillion on my computer that I use in digital scrapbooking.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be showing any pictures of the inside of the hotel. You wouldn't believe it. They collect lots of stuff, and it's just everywhere. But they haven't done much except get a shower, sinks and a toilet running in the former Gents Room. Plus they have one room set up for themselves and a guest room. Meanwhile, all of the other rooms are full of stuff. I've never really been to the third floor. However, I took my boys in 1990 to visit, and I have to say that not much has changed on the inside in 19 years.
