"This computer generated image, supplied by NASA, shows objects that are currently being tracked in Earth orbit. Approximately 95% of the objects in this illustration are orbital debris, i.e., not functional satellites. The dots represent each item. The orbital debris dots are scaled according to the image size of the graphic to optimize their visibility and are not scaled to Earth. This image provide a good visualization of where the greatest orbital debris populations exist. The space shuttle Atlantis is flying at about 350 miles above Earth, an area littered with more dangerous space junk than the lower orbits where shuttles normally park at the international space station." Yikes! Talk about a traffic jam!
Hope none of that junk ends up down here in French Lique!

Amazing! I hope none of it lands in Ark. either! laurie
That picture is amazing! Not only are we doing litter on earth but also in outerspace. Makes me think of the Day the Earth Stood Still, someone might come down here and tell us to stop!

I guess just piling up our trash on Earth was not good enough so we are trashing space. How sad. Thank you for the really interesting post.

'Space junk' huh*? Sounds like what I see just before deciding my closet needs to be cleaned out AGAIN. A LOT OF JUNK TAKING UP SPACE*! *GRIN* Thanks for the pic of what it looks like from outter space. ((hugs)) _Ashley*
Dixie,
I love your new header...how's the wedding plans going?
This really is an amazing shot. If there are intelligent life forms in outer space, maybe they can figure out what to do with our trash. If not, I hope they like swap meets too. Kathy
Wow! that is crazy! Hope it all stays up there! Linda
We're just plain trashy!
Sheeesh somebody needs to have a little chat with them space dudes about littering! I'm actually hoping some of it does fall back to earth here in Massachusetts...I have a couple of reknowned politicians who live here that I wouldn't mind seeing meet up with some space debris at high speeds.
wow, that is eyeopening and scary! Cool pic and post.

Hey Dixie,
Some strange reason this morn....it is 4:29 in Sedona, I can visit some blogs without computer freezing up. Miss seeing all of you, be home late tonight and hopefully up and running with some beautiful pictures on Monday.
This is so crazy...guess when something goes wrong up there with our equipment, there's no where else for it to go. Hope some of it doesn't decide to fall and land in West Texas...
Hope its going on down there.
You just couldn't stay away from the pink.
Wet here--YEA!
Candy
Okay, enough fretting over it all...what can we MAKE with that stuff if we can get it down here???? ;D
Hmmmmmmmmm
Space Junk a new frontier.
Wonder what the Kovels would have collected first ?
Or what Mary Englebreit would write about and than create cute litte images to tie it all together ? Just had to stop by and wish you happy thoughts.
Have a blessed Sunday.
