Thrifty Thursday... Polishing the Vintage Silver and Putting it Away...

I'd been looking for a container to store some vintage silverware that I'd purchased while shopping Wimberley Trade Days with Candy back in March...

and yes... my favorite Thrifty Shopping Place, Goodwill had this little beauty.

A wonderful "tarnish proof" silverware chest! Yes, the price was right, just $3.99. The interior... perfection!

not a smudge, a tear, a stain... just perfect!

So I polished up my vintage silver, just as Bill at Affordable Accoutrements advised. Then I placed it carefully in my new silverware chest.

and there is plenty of room for more... I just have 4-place settings of this beautiful 1947 Rogers Ancestral Pattern Silver...

The perfect place to use my beautiful vintage silver is on a sunny tablescape on the porch.. with my vintage Syracuse Coralbel Pattern China...

Consider the iced tea....

On a very hot and sunny Texas afternoon... it's always nice to enjoy a delicious cold glass of southern iced sweet tea... Now Ricky, a Texas boy through and through... has learned to enjoy iced tea my way... the southern way...

very sweet.... with fresh slices of lemon... thinly sliced... and in a glass tumbler... no plastic cups for this tea! I like to add a little zest...because it's pretty... and... southern... a nice glass of southern iced sweet tea... can you say ahhhhhhhh...my tablescape for Susan... now all I need is... a hot, thirsty man...because the best glass of southern iced sweet tea...
is the one you just finished drinking on a very hot south Texas day...

My front porch is a serene, quiet place to have an impromptu teaparty for one... as long as the one has a beautiful book... and isn't that the pretty vintage silver I found in Wimberley too? Why yes... it is! I just love it... Oh the stories it could tell...

Oh how the time goes by so quickly... Is my little tea party break for one already over? Well... the tea is gone... so it must be time... To gather my treasures back into the house...

If you've visited here before, you know how much I love dinner time on the front porch... It's hard for me to pass up a comfortably cool sunny afternoon on the front porch... Today... afternoon coffee (decaf of course!) with my daughter... KJ...
My youngest daughter, KJ, loves china and lace... she's a very girlie-girl that loves to set the table for something special... or nothing special at all... While we both pick PINK as our favorite color... the vintage AQUA comes in a close second... Aren't those aqua napkins soooo pretty... and I found the ivory china napkin rings for 50-cents each at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago... perfect!

and the Lenox Butterfly Meadow Cloud... (Lynne's post today has the color version of this china). I love the way my new aqua place mats have the scallop that mimics the china's scalloped edge...
My vintage coffeepot is Dogwood from Johnson Brothers England. I bought it 20 years ago in the Dallas area at one of my favorite antique malls... KJ's been trying to talk me into giving it to her for the past 3-years... Honey, it's in the will...
I love the Lenox matching coffee mugs... feminine and elegant!
and my centerpiece is a basket full of silk hydrangeas that I made a couple of years ago...
So if you're ever in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by for afternoon coffee or tea... Friends are always welcome down here in French Lique...
