The Perfect Country Cottage Guestroom... continued from Blue Monday

The Second Time Around.... or maybe 3rd or 4th... but I love this wall full of mostly empty frames... I left some their original patina... and some I painted white or cottage white... and there's even an Aqua Blue which is my punch of color for this Cottage White guestroom...

This just might be my favorite wall decor in my house! Each frame, gathered over time from various thrift stores, antique malls and garage sale or two... My cost limit for frames is $5, and most of these... I paid less... so the cost of this near-pictureless wall of cottage frames.... less than $50... and that includes the one with the picture!

A Tweet and A Glass Box...

I'm joining Diane for Second Time Around Tuesday... Drop by and see who else is playing!

I can't resist stopping by my favorite Salvation Army Store when I'm on the South Side of San Antonio... and there... last week... I found these...

two little Tweets... 49-cents each... couldn't pass that one up...

When Sweet Sister was here a few weeks ago... we thrifted Goodwill and I found this... missing one of it's ball feet and the ball on top.. didn't bother me any... 99-cents... Sweet Sister said... "what will you do with that broken thing?"

so can you guess where I'm going here?

yep... a perfect combination... now this is just a tease... you'll have to come back later to see the finished product...

Then yesterday at a meeting, one of my co-workers slipped and commented about something I'd said on my blog... huuummmmm... a co-worker lurker... I didn't tell her I KNEW she'd been lurking... Won't she be surprised when she sees this!

Love ya Margie!

Wondering who else is lurking out there in French Lique???????

Fallen Angels... Second Time Around...

While looking for vintage Holt Howard figurines on eBay... I came across these two sweet little girls...

They're candle holders... which suits me just fine...I purchased the pair for just under $10... a bargain!... because each little angel is a fallen angel... one with a left... and one with a right...broken wing... I'll probably try to do a little better repair job than what was done here... But in any event... I think they're beautiful... and I'm happy to have them join the family... down here in French Lique... Want more 2nd Time around?

Hop over and visit Diane at A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words... and see who else is playing this Tuesday...

Second Time Around... A Tricycle Gets New Life!

Secondhand treasures are my favorite kind. Diane, at A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words, likes to blog about secondhand treasures every Tuesday in her Second Time Around Meme... Today, I'm joining in and sharing one of my favorite "seconds"... Join Diane and see more found treasures...

Several years ago I found this little rusty tricycle at a garage sale for only $5. I bought it because it reminded me of my grandson, Little Einstein. Then, a few weeks ago, I found this pretty little basket at Goodwill for 49-cents. I spray painted the basket white and then decided... to add some daises left over from another project... and some ribbon so I could tie it to the handlebars of my little rusty tricycle...
It's now in my booth at Blue Hills... and if someone doesn't buy it soon, my daughter says she has "dibs" on it... I think I'm feelin' a house warming present comin' on!
a little tricycle... now a piece of art... on it's second time around...

Second Time Around... and no worse for the wear...

I frequently buy things while junking, that evoke some kind of memory from childhood... thus my love of pink and green depression glass.

So, when thrifting one day, I found a chipped pink dogwood teacup for 50-cents... I just couldn't leave it there... but what to do with it? Then I read this on Spencer's Bellamere Cottage Blog... Easy-Peasey Candlestick Tutorial.

I changed it up just a bit... I had an old Home Interiors candlestick but it had a brass base and brass top with a brass candle holder. I've never much liked brass, so I've never really used this candlestick. I found that it was all screwed together with a central post, so I took it apart. I replaced the bottom with an old vintage glass chandelier bobeche (turned upside down) and then painted the brass top drip tray, cottage white. I glued my chipped pink depression cup with epoxy to the drip tray... added a vintage prism and a pretty creamy satin bow... and voila'!

and just for you Keetha... with candle light...

So, second and maybe even third or forth time around... everything purchased on the cheap at thrift stores... and now I have a very pretty and feminine teacup candle holder... Thanks to Spencer for her easy-peasey directions and idea...

Everything old is new again down here in French Lique...
