What did Dixie buy while shopping in the Village?

Of course I got the blush colored beeswax candles... they were 50% off... so I bought the whole box! I love the way beeswax candles burn, and they'll look lovely on my next Tablescape Tuesday!

and the little eggs... this photo shows you how small they are... here, in a vintage teacup! Now where will I put them? I haven't decided, but in my office somewhere... maybe sitting on the window sill... we'll see soon enough won't we.

aren't they just the sweetest things!

and then from my new Favorite little shoppe...
a new set of lovely spoon and folk chimes... I love these things... I hung them above my kitchen sink so I can admire them every day...

When I entered the little shoppe, Chick-a-dee, the aroma was divine! When I asked the shoppe keeper what the lovely fragrance was... it was this... So of course I had to have one for... uh... you guessed it.. My newly redecorated home office! The fragrance, Clean Cotton. I wish I had a click and sniff so you could smell it too! Now, I know you guys are disappointed that I didn't buy the Funeral Route sign... I was just trying to be good! but I haven't ruled it out entirely... guess you'll have to wait and see... I can hardly wait to go back to the Village of Wimberly and finish making the rounds of the Square... enjoying the simple things of life down here in French Lique...

ps... for Muse and others that hoped I'd buy the book of Longfellow poems... I already have a book of Longfellow poems... and here... one of my favorites...

Afternoon in February

The day is ending,
The night is descending;
The marsh is frozen,
The river dead.

Through clouds like ashes
The red sun flashes
On village windows
That glimmer red.

The snow recommences;
The buried fences
Mark no longer
The road o'er the plain;

While through the meadows,
Like fearful shadows,
Slowly passes
A funeral train.

The bell is pealing,
And every feeling
Within me responds
To the dismal knell;

Shadows are trailing,
My heart is bewailing
And tolling within
Like a funeral bell.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Shopping in the Village on Sunday afternoon...

The Village of Wimberly. Texas that is... I posted a few offerings on Blue Monday... here are some of the other pretties that I saw... and or bought... bet you're wondering what I purchased aren't you???

The entry to some of the shops... Garden Gate...

Oh my! A Christmas sale greeting as I walked in the door!

Little song birdies called me over to visit...

Bunnies-bunnies everywhere... reminded me of my pal Dana at the Stone Rabbit... wouldn't you just be in Heaven here Miss Dana??? tiny little Easter eggs at River House... Be gentle * Be patient * Be wise... I try to be all these things... don't you?
Beautiful handmade beeswax candles from Lynchburg, Virginia... in a pale pink... maybe I should have saved these for Pink Saturday? also at River House...
and just a couple of doors down was a little shop called Chick-a-dee, which turned out to be my favorite! Look at this kitchy little pink plaid purse and matching spike heels from the early 1960's... I can just see my mom wearing these!

They also had many old books... look what I found Muse...
and wouldn't this just look lovely on my front porch... I think so... sorta tongue in cheek humor ya know...

loved this antique biscuit jar... but not the price... $58... ouch! and a little basket of vintage hankies... $3 each... what a bargain!

and I loved these little dolls... do they still make them? I had many as a little girl, given to me by my Dad. He purchased them as he traveled, and then brought them home to me! and vintage flour sacks... they were so pretty don't you think?
These three little lambs greeted me at the entry of a store, as I was leaving... I didn't get to stop, but I took their picture anyway... so I'll remember to go back... So, what did I buy on my shopping in the Village trip last Sunday... well here's a hint...

But I must get back to my office decorating... did I tell you Ricky put the flooring in tonight... it's beautiful!... anyway, come back Friday morning... by then I'll have some pics of what's in the bags... I think you're going to like them... and no, it's not the biscuit jar!

Exhausted, but lovin' it, down here in French Lique!
