I'm more of a distraction than anything else....

Back in early February... Candy and Terry (along with my sister from Mississippi, Lili) came to Geronimo to help me move my booth from the back to the front... here's that story... The Fairies of French Lique... and I remind you of this because...

just this past Friday... two of the fairies... Candy and Terry... were doing a little work in their own booth near Wimberley, Texas... My sister, here again from Mississippi..., and I decided to go and visit Candy and Terry and uh... help? Well, as it turns out... I'm more of a distraction than anything else... after our arrival... they worked for another half hour and then I talked them into quitting and running off to Wimberley for some serious sisterhood style shopping with Lili and me...

I forgot to take photos until we got to Brocante... I just loved these bottles... and the photo of the flapper in the cloche (background)...

Terry loved this debutante gown draped over a wicker chair... she's been wondering what to do with an old gown she has for sale... and now... she knows...

This fabulous piece of art reminded me of the beautiful creations of Miss Rock Candy herself...

but this... oh my... was the Pièce de résistance ...
I absolutely fell in love with this beautiful piece of art... from head...

to toe... Magnifique!
the price... $1800...
probably worth every penny...
but way-way over my current frivolous art budget...

after ooooohhhhing and aaaahhhhhhing... and walking around for about 2-hours... (yes of course I bought something.. but that's for later)...
we decided to stop and get a little Texas Iced Tea...

yes... it is true... I'm more of a distraction than anything else...
but Candy, Terry, Lili and I...
always seem to have a really good time... no matter where we go or what we do...
down here in French Lique...

Treasures found in Wimberley... or What's on Dixie's list...

Sometimes my lists don't make any sense to anyone else.. but they make sense to me...! First on the list... "White Popcorn Spread"... or White Chenille Spread... I needed one, a "cutter" to make some pillows and to recover a small chair...Got it!... and only paid $5... beautiful! Wicker basket... Susan at Between Naps has a beautiful basket of daisys hanging on her red front door... I've been looking for one of those long flat baskets since first seeing Susan's basket... I found one that I think will work.. needs some paint.. but... at $3.50... I'm going to give it a try... Silver... or... Vintage Silverware... how about this... 27 pieces of 1847 Silver Plate, Rogers Brothers Ancestral Pattern, circa 1924... $52... just what I was looking for... isn't it pretty... a whole box full and on sale! I didn't find a chair... but I'll keep looking... I did find a few other little treasures to share with you... like these pretty blue bird salt and pepper shakers that were sitting amongst some Lu-Ray Pastel dishes, but I haven't been able to find any info that would indicate they were from the Lu-Ray line... they are just very similar in color. Do they remind you of some white ones from Target...? Me too! Something for Ricky... remember the shoe collection for only $3 each... How about a Frankoma Cowboy Boot for $3...! What a deal. Ricky loved it! I think this came from a bar or resturant.. A Paul Masson Vinyard wooden plaque from California... I like it! and look at these! Only $7.50 each... I got 4... doesn't it remind you of those Horchow chargers? a sweet bunny and egg for Easter... in my favorite blue and white...
Silk scarves for only $3 each... I managed to find 4 that I really liked... A pretty little handmade apron that I couldn't resist! It was only $3 after all.For a collage of frames I'm working on... I found one for $3 and one for only a buck!Candy really liked these little birds I bought for my front porch table... I think she liked them because they came pre-rusted... $8... no extra charge for the rust! and that thing I bought that made everyone say... huh? It's a glass float used for fishing... I'll be using it for something else, that does involve water... but it won't be floating..
Then, there always seems to be that one thing that calls out to me. Something that may not make any sense to anyone else (alot like my list), but it makes sense to me... something that I just cannot leave without... Something a lot like Lahoma's painting... or something like this...
A framed photograph of Connie Reeves... a member of the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Connie died at the age of 101, due to injuries recieved in a fall from her beloved horse, Dr Pepper... from one cowgirl to another... "what a way to go"...

Flea Market shopping in Wimberley, Texas

We (Candy, Barbara and myself, and friends...)had a great time at Wimberley... There are so many different little "store fronts" and shops... selling everything from fine china to Civil War Memorabilia... And of course... put Candy and Dixie together... and you get two goofballs on the loose...

Fortunately, Candy brought her mom along... here on the left... (guess where Candy gets that beautiful white hair!)... here's Loretta "haggling" over the cost of a plate... Loretta won! What an absolute doll she is... Loretta has now agreed to adopt Dixie...

Here's Candy and mom... Loretta... The first "buy" I made, I asked if they would take less than the price they had the item labeled... I got a $9 item for $6... Loretta said, "Dixie, you can offer them less?"... "of course!" said Dixie... Loretta didn't pay full price for the rest of the day!

I think I like the name of this shop because when I was a kid... I loved Roy Rogers and Dale Evans... "Happy Trails to you... till we meet again... "

I thought this vintage porcelain candle holder was divine... and only $8!
This is a display of shoes... you know.. the little "one shoe" collectible kind... They were only $3 each.. what a great find!

Just next door was a fellow that had all kinds of Civil War memorabilia... This item made my heart stop... a reminder of our not so beloved past...

and here ya go... Dixie and saddles... I just love the smell of leather on a horse!

I liked this box of eggs... ceramic, stone... glass... all pretty in their own way...

I thought this was a cute sign.. it reminded me of one that had a picture frame and etched glass someone had posted... but I like the "gone fishin, catcha later"...

This was a bed from Australia.. only $125....

and of course being in South Texas... somebody had to be selling the beautiful

Candy said, "Look a vest... with the purse already attached!" I think Candy will be looking for denim vests at the thrift store now... I love vintage christening gowns... isn't this one a treasure?

and a vintage baby doll that really needs some love...

Bet you're wondering what I bought... I have to tell you that Loretta, Candy's mom, was the queen of buying today... I think Candy made about 7 -trips to take stuff that mom bought, back to the car... but I found a few things on my list... oh... my list... want to know what was on it? I'll tell you on Sunday... I think you'll like the treasures I found... and visit Candy and Barbara.. who have promised to blog their finds as well... "a good time was had by all..."

Wimberley Lions Market Days...

Ricky and I ventured to Wimberley, Texas yesterday... The Lions Club of Wimberley sponsers and runs Market Days, which is the oldest outdoor market in Texas.

Held only one weekend a month, Market Days take place the first Saturday of each month, March - September and the first Saturday and Sunday of the month in October, November and December. There is no Market Days in January and February. The part about no Market Days in January and February is what took us to Wimberley this weekend. Ricky loves a product that he has only found in Wimberley. It's called "Amaretto Pecan Honey Butter"... and it's made of exactly what it says... Ricky has been out for a couple months now, and knowing that he couldn't stock up again until next March if we didn't go this weekend... well... nuff said... so he got his "Amaretto Pecan Honey Butter"... 4 jars of it in fact... "4 jars for $35..."... a bargain!

and since I was there... well I had to pick up a few little things for myself too...
