Hooked on "Cal-Lee-Forn-Ya"...

There's no way to go on vacation and not come back "Hooked on California". These aren't photos of the California that most people think of when they think "California"... but they are California for me...

Beautiful tall, soaring trees...

right in your own back yard...

A fantastic vacation home in the mountains...

or a pretty red barn at a dairy farm...

guess I can see why there's all those "Happy Cows" trying to get here...

Or maybe you'd prefer a pretty Victorian in Wine Country...?

Or maybe a little dip in the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean...? I'm more of the mountain kind of gal myself... and though I'm back home in Texas... I guess I have to admit... that I'm Hooked on California...

Now visit Julia at Hooked on Houses to see what everyone else is hooked on this week... and thanks for stopping by and visiting us down here in French Lique...

Do you know there is a French Lick, Indiana? They have made it into a casino town. I am sure it was quite charming before this happened.

I love Cali to but have only been to the more obvious apots...LA, etc. But let me tell you we spent a few days at Carmel By The Sea. Oh so romantic...stayed in a boutique hotel, lots of shops, courtyards, flowers.

One thing about Ca. there are so many different places you can live!
Me, I have the desert behind me and the mountains are 90 mins to the top and the ocean is 40 min. So much for the eyes to see. I go home to Texas and see so much "GREEN" nothing can compare to that!

I haven't been to California in years, but I loved it there and want to go back sometime soon. That Victorian house is great!

I love to live in California, you have captured some of its beauty that most people don't think of. All they think of is Disneyland and Hollywood!
I won't live anywhere else!

I could take my shoes off and walk through that green pasture...hold the chips please! And those tall towering trees offer a feeling of security.
Boy am I glad this week is over. A little calm is around the bend.
Now I am going to check out Julia and see what's up at her place.

I love California but from next door in Nevada. Come sometime to Lake Tahoe and northern Nevada and see that we are better than California and our highways are smooth as glass. Proud of the desert.

Great photos and nice job on winning that give a way.

You should see MY California!

We have happy cows!

Did you know there are people who think California and LA are synonymous?

Lynn... I know you're right... but in all the times I've visited California (my sister lived there for 18 years), I've never been further south than San Francisco. I love the northern part of the state, the small towns, the mountains, the lakes... which is why I thought I'd share "my" California... it's beautiful... I always think of North Lake Tahoe and Truckee when I think "California"... ;)

So happy to hear you speak so fondly of my beloved state! In the thirty years I lived there I could be laying on the beach and skiing on snow covered mountains in the same day.... and I actually did this as a twenty-something!! Now, how can you ever beat that! California has more to offer than any other state ~ but I am still having my love affair with TEXAS!!!! 4 years and going strong!
