Goodbye to an Angel... and to the King of Pop!

Farrah Fawcett Dies of Anal Cancer
Fawcett, 62, Was Diagnosed With Anal Cancer in 2006
By Miranda Hitti
WebMD Health NewsReviewed by Louise Chang, MDJune 25, 2009 -- Former "Charlie's Angel" Farrah Fawcett died today at age 62 after a long struggle with anal cancer, her spokesman told media organizations
.

Farrah's swimsuit poster made her an icon in the 1970s. This is the poster... I think every male under the age of 30 in 1976, had this poster hanging on a wall somewhere in his domain. I know my "soon to be" husband had it... hanging in his bedroom. It never bothered me though.. because she was beautiful, and you'd had to have been blind not to notice that in 1976. (Did I mention I had Farrah Hair in the late 1970's?... Yep... I had Farrah Hair... and I loved it!)

She was also a Texas gal... from Corpus Christi on the Gulf Coast... and a Catholic. I liked her when she was one of "Charlie's Angels" (she made me want to be a ditzy blond private eye)... but the performance I liked her best in was "The Burning Bed"... I had read the book prior to the movie coming out. Usually, the movie can't hold a candle to the book for me, but her performance was so amazing...

Her interviews in the past 10-years didn't help her image any. At times, she was almost incoherent... slurring speech... mind wandering... and that was before being diagnosed with cancer. One thing she always was... beautiful.

It was painful to watch her last interview... you could see that she didn't have long. Losing Farrah is like the end of an era... She really was a very special gal... She was, and always will be, an Angel... Happy Trails Farrah...

and then there's this... holy cow!

Michael Jackson, the world-famous pop star, was pronounced dead after suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon. He was 50.

Jackson died after slipping into a coma while at the hospital, according to reports. The official cause of death has not been announced.

I was never a big Michael Jackson fan... though he was an incredible talent... What a tragic life he lead... his passing is sudden and unexpected... and so it goes... Hopefully he will find peace now.

This photo of Michael is how I prefer to remember him... Goodbye Michael.. you were a Thriller...

I think 62 is too young. Poor Farrah. I heard it was also painful for her.
MJ? I don't know what to say. He was a talent, I liked some of his 80's stuff and early 90's, but I'm afraid his personal life and all that entailed will forever shadow the man and his memory. : /

They say things happen in 3's. First Ed McMahon, Farrah then Michael. Busy days in Hollywood.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Thanks Dixie.I hate that MJ's death is overshadowing Farrah's...I understand that his was more sudden and unexpected but still....

Yeah, I had the Farrah hair too...first hairstyle I'd ever had that I looked good...I've got curly hair so it worked. And after being overshadowed for years by a drop dead gorgeous older sister...it was nice to be the pretty one (of course, she was pregnant and our family doesn't do pregnancy "pretty" so....;D

I was never a fan, but his later life and just strange lifestyle choices....just weird. Here's hoping his children have a chance at a normal life, but they'll always have that shadow hanging over them. But your heart aches that they've lost their daddy when they are so young.

But she was normal, didn't do the 'celebrity thing' and seemed like a genuinely nice person. RIP Farrah.

I thought she was the most beautiful lady ever. Her poster outsold every other pinup poster ever made.
Michael, bless his heart, had such a hard time being WHO HE WAS. It became an obsession with him and destroyed his life. I am so sorry he had to go thru so much..He was so full of talent. If he could have just been happy with who he was, he would have been a lot happier, I'm sure. He is surely happy now.

Hi Dixie - long time no see!

Life is strange and the Hollywood set more weird than we ordinary folk!
But Farrah was special and a lovely Texas woman - why even we Brits wanted to look just like her! Her battle against the big C, something I've done too so I know how she struggled, was fought bravely and elegantly. The clip of Ryan O'Neal's interview with Barbara Walters which was to air tonight I believe, was embarrassing - she deserved better as he obviously was strung out on something still!

Poor MJ - he was never a favorite but I always felt he was probably used and abused more than him being the abuser! His death is sad but maybe a sweet release - I feel those later years were hell for him. RIP to the King of Pop.
