Dreaming. Setting Goals. Accomplishing. Smile...

For as long as I can remember... and we're talking decades here... I have dreamed of having my own little booth in an antique store somewhere... On August 1st... that dream came true... I found a spot... well...about 100 square feet... in the Blue Hills Antique Mall... and finally just told myself... "go ahead.. do it!".. and I did.

Ricky's daughter Jen, and I, painted on Saturday, July 23rd... (Jen painted the large shelving unit..it was hospital green!) and then this weekend Ricky helped me loading in the "stuff"... and then.. well... who knows... all I know is that French Lique has finally found a home... more photos to come soon! Keep watchin'...

Vintage china and depression glass... along with a few other pretties found while thrifting in south Texas... I have to admit.. it's shabby chic.. but not too shabby. ...and remember my chair from Beverly's Glory B?

Well, here she is, filled to the brim with handmade pillows. I really do love this shabby chair...

So, in case you've been wondering what I've been up to this summer down here in French Lique...

PS... my first sale occurred on Saturday... one of my sister's beautiful handmade aprons... I've always told her they'd sell like hotcakes! Thanks Lili... I love you a bunch... more fabric will be on it's way soon!

PSS... for those of you that would like to come by, Geronimo only has one main road... State Highway 123... and the Blue Hills Mall is on the main drag... come on by! Blue Hills is open every day except Wednesday 10-5, and Sunday 1-5... It's big... bring you walking shoes... and they take cash, checks and plastic!

PSSS.... Pink price tags?! Is there another color?!

  22. Oh my gosh, Dixie - we just moved our booth out of Blue Hills last Friday! Can't believe we just missed each other. We moved over to Gruene Flea Antique Mall. I love Blue Hills but it's just too far for us to maintain the booth and my partners live by the new booth. We'll be back by to see your booth and wish you all the luck in the world there - your shop looks wonderful. Stop by our blog...Bella Blues...the link is on my blog. xoxo Nancy

  23. Congrats Dixie!! I know the feeling. I had two spaces at a famous Antique Mall in Agoura Hills, CA! Rachel Ashwell was a frequent shopper as well as the local celebs!!! It was a lot of fun.... I lived and breathed garage saling, thrift shopping, creating and parting with my treasures! Enjoy!!!

I appreciate the visit and the nice comment. I hope you'll post a picture of your new, vintage silverware in its new, vintage storage chest! Do you know what pattern it is? I'll bet it's beautiful!

  31. Oh Dixie!!

I'm soooo excited for you! It's so much fun...kind of playing store, but without having to be there allll the time. My DH's and I did it a few years ago too....then we moved way to far away to commute...so we decided to empty out our little space....it turned out to be pretty good timing, I broke my leg a couple of months later and would NEVER have been able to work on it.

Wishing you blessings and TONS of sales. Your space is just adorable...oh how I wish I didn't live a gazillion miles away!

    Big congratulatory hugs!

  32. I dream of being in an antique shop again, too, Dixie. The one I'd like to be in, near me, doesn't want "handmades" mixed with the vintage. Since I make and sell lots of seasonal items, and have always done well with them in shops, I just decided to find another spot someday. I also sell vintage finds, but I like the mix of pillows, runners and seasonal decor with them....oh well, his loss! :) I have enough sales lined up to keep me way tooooooo busy anysay......what was I thinking?
Your booth looks good---I can't believe Nancy moved out as you moved in! I had to leave one, too, a couple of years ago because it was so far away...my gas guzzling van was eating up my profits! :)
I'm looking forward to lots more pictures....have fun with your new adventure!!! Oh, and your chair looks great piled high with those pillows.

  34. Oh Dixie Friend, you are gonna be busy...and I'm so happy for you! I used to have a booth in an antique mall when I lived in NC and I loved it. I almost signed a contract a couple months ago and my Beloved Hubby thinks I already have too much on my plate (which I do), but I SOOOOOO want to revisit this type of love again soon. Of course, mine would most likely be about creating Distressed Furniture pieces and having items that are French and Fun.... I'll Dream on it..... :) Hope and pray yours is a TREMENDOUS success! :) ~CC Catherine
