A baby in my front yard...

Every morning I sit for about an hour on my front porch... drinking my morning coffee and doing a little blog reading... and a little bird watching... We have a lot of birds in French Lique ... we have a lot of trees... and we put out several bird feeders year round to make sure they show up in the front yard while we're on the porch...

This morning, as I went to put feed in the feeder... this little fellow was on the ground beside it...
I wasn't sure what type of baby it was... that is until it's parents (a pair of Scissor Tails) decided that I was a little too close for comfort and began to dive bomb my head... I'd love to show you a photo of the parents... but it was a little difficult to take a photo while protecting my head and running back to the security of my front porch...
Baby and parents are fine... and I, uninjured, am back on the porch... drinking my coffee and watching the family trying to regroup...
down here in French Lique...

Like your new self id picture. And so glad you didn't get injured by 'THE BIRDS' boy that's a movie from way back. But still you better keep watch (I was going to say 'keep an eye out, but that was kinda creepy)

Your Ricky is a mechanic marvel.

Happiness today to you,

How exciting to see a baby like that! Thanks for risking life and limb to take this great picture to share with us!!!! I too love watching the birds. They were about to eat me out of house and home this Winter! lol I quit feeding them in May when all of the bugs came out but I need to go ahead and fill the feeders back up just to draw them back to the yard to eat more bugs in the yard. Since I started feeding the birds I don't have as many bugs in the yard. I made sure to plant some sunflowers in the garden just for them.

We've been somewhat lucky that it has been raining here on a regular basis but it hasn't been dry enough to run the tiller in the garden. At least we are out of that nasty drought from last year!!! We have well water need I say more! hehehe

God Bless!

That photo was worth risking bird poop in the hair for!
Yesterday, a pair of robins got after my Jakie...he must have been close to the nest. He didn't know what to think!
I love the new look; makes me want to shake mine up. Maybe I will when I get just a little more time!

The fledging phase is perilous, whether one is a bird or a human, no?

About your blog background - - - I didn't VOTE because I can't tell you in those three tiny choices my REASONS. Reasons are very important.

I like your blog both ways - - - however, these fancy, smancy "free" backgrounds take a LONG time to load. Also, the black makes your stuff "pop" - - - so for those two reasons I like the black.

Don't you just love bird watching?!
I been able to follow two nestings this spring from eggs to baby birds - a robin and mockingbird. Enjoy your blog!

Those mama birds can be scary! I'm gonna go sit on my porch now, it sounds so peaceful.

What a sweet baby. I'm sure that momma was having a fit.
If she only knew you were going to be sharing her baby's picture with all of us.

Awww, how cute! We have had 2 little birdies that have fallen out of nests at our house. We try to keep them away from the street and in the shrubs until they can fly. Those mama birds sure are protective though! If only they knew were trying to help the babies!

What a wonderful morning adventure.

I need to see if my wireless connection will make it out to my patio.

Great idea Miss Dixoe.

What a wonderful way to start your morning. Great shot of the baby, even if it came at great personal risk! We have a neighbor cat who is always getting knocked off the back fence by our resident mockingbirds and bluejays - you'd think he'd learn not to sit there. At this point the score is birds 30, cat zip!

Well, a really good blogger would have surely gotten a photo of the parents! Just kidding. Glad they didn't leave any poop on your head. I would probably have broken a leg running away in fright! laurie
