Goodnight Ed... and Goodbye...
Ed McMahon, 86 years old, a television pioneer who warmed "The Tonight Show" couch for nearly 30 years as Johnny Carson's jovial sidekick and announcer, died today.

*Dixie* yikes my typing is bad today ^^ he he
He had the most contagious laugh!
Johnny and Ed had a great rapport with one another. They could create humor out of the most simple things.
Late night has never been the same without them.
Sweet wishes,
Sars
Dixie, It appears that whatever you did is working. I think I can stay on your blog and leave a message.

Sara... I couldn't have said it better!
I hope he and Johnny are sharing a laugh at a big desk as we speak!
Ay-Ohhh, Ed!

Hadn't heard about this. Sad to see yet another television icon from the golden age pass on.
Johnny may have been Carnac but I loved the way Ed would repeat what Johnny was saying and that "Ho ho ho" laugh was just so Ed. I miss both terribly but I know that when Ed left this world, Johnny had the multi-colored curtains of Heaven open up for him and the applause was all for him this time.
Deanna :D
I just heard about this. So sad...but what a well spent life.
I hadn't heard yet...wow. Thank you for honoring him with this post, Dixie.
Hey Dixie, I haven't heard this yet. Talk shows are not like they use to be! Those two were classic and will never be replaced!

I understand he had been in very poor health and am glad he is home now and no more pain.
I sure miss him and Johnny both. I never gave a flyin' flip for the Tonights Show before and after those two. I never missed a night of watching them, tho.
Thanks for this very nice tribute to a man we'll all miss.

Howdy Dixie
Thank you for the memories ,and for paying respect to a true pioneer who left a large hole that could not be repaired with a simple replacement.
Late night has never been the same without the two of these good humored gentlemen .
Bless you Dixie for this post.
Happy Trails
