Ice Skates in South Texas... Whooda thunk it!

I've been adding photos of Christmas wreaths with ice skates to my Pinterest Boards lately... Ricky and I have decided our Christmas colors this year will be traditional...
Red, Green, Silver (cause I'm using that 1960's silver tree again this year) and White...
So I'm searching for good ideas
in the traditional color scheme...
but I don't want rustic country...

I want shiny and bright Christmas...
with lots of sparkle!
and I've been wanting ice skates... I looked on line.. whoa! $40-$50 and more... kinda expensive for my thrifty budget...
and then today... I went by Goodwill, looking for sweaters to turn into pillows for my sofa.. in White, Red and Green of course...
and while driving my little Goodwill shopping buggy around looking at all manner of sweater...
I found these!

I couldn't believe it!  Ice Skates in south Texas!
Amazing!
and the best part of all...
the price!  $7.99!  Oh thank you Goodwill from the bottom of my little ole cheap... er... thrifty-heart!
and I know just what I'm going to do with them... thanks to this tutorial from fellow blogger, Jess at Just A Blink!
I'm feelin' lucky...

  1. I'm so glad that you found your ice skates. They are going to look perfect in your Christmas arrangement. They just say Christmas! Now, all I gotta do is find me a pair or two or three!!!

  2. At one time in our lives we lived in 'the frozen north' and a friend used to tell us he planned to drive south with the snow shovel strapped to the top of his car. He figured when he stopped some place and the locals asked him what that thing was on his vehicle he'd know this is where he wanted to live (and this is when he would sell his snow shovel). Maybe that's what happened with the skates - they figured they were far enough south to get rid of them.

  3. About the only thing we could do with ice skates (besides make pretty arrangements) here in Texas is cut the cheese with them. Wait...that didn't sound right. Slice the cheese...that's better.
    Sweet serendipity!

  6. CUTE!!! I keep thinking I need to be thinking about Christmas... then it's 84 outside. And I'm still in my flip flops.

  7. Hey Dixie...I found a BRAND NEW pair of childrens' skates size 10 in the box and all for my granddaughter that is 3. I paid $16 for them and felt that was a steal since they still had the tags on them. I figured if she only takes ONE spin in them on the ice with her Mommy that can ice skate...the memory and Pics I take of her doing it will be well worth it. Then I'll have my daughter do something like you've done with yours for future Christmas's. GREAT share! LOVE IT! ;) Hugs! ~CC (PS: I was right, I did use to visit Candy at ROCK CANDY all the time when I was blogging more often earlier) ;)
