Sometimes the Simpliest Solutions are the Best!

I posted about this sweet little Birch Bark Wreath that I bought for $1 at Marshall's, last Thursday ... I asked for some ideas on how to use it... I was coming up blank... Well... help I got... there were some wonderful ideas, and some I'll try in the future... but this morning I sat in my living room, looking at this candle... went to my office and picked up the wreath... Simple and Easy... since I already had everything I needed for this "project"... and Thanks to Debbie for the suggestion...
I had some burlap twine that came wrapped around a velvet bag holding a nice bottle of wine... a Christmas gift...
Sweet, Simple and Thrifty... cost... about 2-minutes...
Now that's what I call the best solution, down here in French Lique...

Before and After...Silver Sunday Favorites

Today I'm combining Silver Sunday with Sunday Favorites (thank you Beth and Chari for hosting! Chari I noticed you're doing the same thing.. feel free to steal my new Meme Mosaic!) and revisiting a tablescape from
New Year 2009... A friend was reading some of my old posts and brought this one to my attention... she was most interested in the "Mercury Glass Christmas Tree"... (no Liz.. you can't HAVE it.. but you can BORROW it anytime!)
So here ya go... Revisiting Liz's favorite tablescape post... full of Silver Sunday...

SILVER SUNDAY FAVORITES

the original post...

I use this table cloth everyday... it was my grandmothers and is a little tattered in places, but, I love it and I think it's very romantic...
The place mats double as chargers with a vintage crystal Anchor dinner plate and a Fire King opal white with platinum rim salad plate... I also like to put freshly ground sea salt in the little individual vintage "salts"(lower center of picture below). See my little "LOVE letters"?
I decided to use vintage Wilendur Pink Dogwood napkins and silver napkin rings... I think the gray shadows in the napkins look nice with the silver and platinum accents...
and decorate with my newly found mercury glass candle holders, bowl & balls, and tree...Bling-Bling...

and now here... with the candles lit and the lights turned low... maybe Ricky will like it better when I get my apron on... Ha! we'll see... Getting ready for a romantic dinner with my sweet hubby (who really is romantic... most of the time)... down here in French Lique...

Crafty Ideas Welcome Here...

This little Birch Bark Wreath was such a good bargain... I couldn't resist. It's only about 8-inch diameter... too small for a door wreath... but what to do with it? So far, I tried a few dried white Hydrangea flowers... didn't look right to me... Now, the only other idea I've come up with is tying a ribbon loosely and hanging it in a window...

I mean... for $1.00 I just couldn't leave it... I had to have it... right?
Now all I have to figure out is WHAT to do with it...

Crafty Ideas Welcome Here... not only that...

White Wednesday... Porcelain Alphabet Orbs...

Last week, I showed you a box of Porcelain Alphabet Orbs that I purchased at TJ Maxx... I thought I'd display them on my living room coffee table in a wire basket... trouble was... I didn't have the type of wire basket I wanted to put them in... So Tuesday at lunch, I stopped by Marshall's (brother to TJ Maxx)... and found this... perfect... and only $4.99. What a deal!

So I took my Orbs (I love that name... Orbs), from their box...

and placed them randomly in my new wire basket... and placed the basket on my coffee table...

O-R-B-S...
kinda reminds me of Alphabet Eggs in a Basket...

Pretty WHITE Porcelain Alphabet O-R-B-S...

I think this is going to be a lot of F-U-N...

Happy White Wednesday!

Fairies at the Eiffel...

Someone once told me that fairies live at the Eiffel Tower...
Being a believer in fairies... I thought this certainly possible... So I set out to see what I could find...
I looked high and low... inside and out... but alas...

not a single fairy did I find...

I think it is entirely possible that someone was pulling my leg... What do you think? Have you seen any fairies at the Eiffel? I'm still looking for scientific evidence... down here in French Lique...

Blue Monday... and Lavender from Texas

I thought I'd share a little Blue from Texas today... well... okay... it's Lavender, but Lavender is a Blue... of sorts...
Have you ever met Debi the Lavender Chick from Hummingbird Farms? Hummingbird Farms is a real Texas Ranch/Farm where they raise Longhorn Cattle and ... you guessed it... Lavender...
They distill the Lavender and make wonderful Lavender scented products... my favorite being...

The Lavender Body Lotion...
For years I used Bath & Body Lavender Lotion... but then I was lucky enough, last May, to WIN a giveaway from Debi of Hummingbird Farms Lavender Lotion. I love it... and now... you can order online directly from Hummingbird Farms.. even if you don't live in Texas...
I wish my scratch and sniff button was working.. I'd love to share the divine fragrance of this Lavender... This is truly the best Lavender fragrance lotion I've ever used...

I like it so much, I got two of the bottled lotions... one for my nightstand and one for my office desk... and a tube of lotion for my purse...
When I find something truly special... I can't resist sharing it with you...

Happy Blue Monday... Drop by and see who else is participating at Smiling Sally's today, for Lavender Blue Monday...

Silver Sunday... Thrifty Silver Finds...

I'm joining sweet Beth for Silver Sunday again this week... If you love silver and want to see more... visit Beth at Gypsy Fish Journal... the participants are on her sidebar... you'll love what you see...

As those of you who read my blog with any regularity know, I love to thrift shop... and one of my favorite thrifting buddies is Candy at Rock Candy... A few months ago Candy and I made our last trip to Wimberley Market Days for 2009... and that's where I came upon these...
A pretty set of candlesticks... the pair for $5... I couldn't pass them up! So, I brought them hope and will some silver polish and a little elbow grease...

Yep... they turned into these... a beautiful pair of SILVER candle holders... I knew they were quite heavy... but who could have known?!

I've seen other similar candlesticks...

but I haven't found any...

that I like better, or for a better price...

They adorned my Christmas table... and are sitting there still...
Then last week, after seeing all the pretty silver S&P's on the 1st Silver Sunday, I ran across this pretty pair at Beverly's Glory B's Cottage in Geronimo... (only $7)
though they were tarnished...
but I took care of that without delay... (sorry all you "love the tarnish" gals... I just have to polish...)

They have a simple little scrolling decoration around the tops...

and I think they are just perfect sitting next to my bargain candle holders...

Here they are... about the cost of a lunch at Chili's... A pretty shiny reminder of two of my favorite thrifting places and two of my favorite thrifting people...

Bonjour! Welcome to Pink Saturday in French Lique!

While strolling around Blue Hills Antique Mall last weekend (after tidying up my booth a bit), I ran across this little lady... with her pretty PINK Phone...

Isn't she just adorable with her rosy PINK cheeks and
heart shaped PINK lips...
I can almost hear her say... "Bonjour!"I adore her tiny PINK shoes... it just makes the PINK complete...

So, Bonjour! to all of you.. and Happy Pink Saturday... Thanks for stopping by and visiting us down here in French Lique!

Fallen Angels... Second Time Around...

While looking for vintage Holt Howard figurines on eBay... I came across these two sweet little girls...

They're candle holders... which suits me just fine...I purchased the pair for just under $10... a bargain!... because each little angel is a fallen angel... one with a left... and one with a right...broken wing... I'll probably try to do a little better repair job than what was done here... But in any event... I think they're beautiful... and I'm happy to have them join the family... down here in French Lique... Want more 2nd Time around?

Hop over and visit Diane at A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words... and see who else is playing this Tuesday...
