Road Trip... the finale...

Ricky gave me these pics of his mower sickle last week... he said for my post about his road trip equipment... I think he likes it when I post about his farm equipment... don't you... Any way... here ya go... that road trip that we took all the way to North Carolina the week of Christmas was for a sickle... the thing with teeth sticking out the side of the mower... Now, what?, you may ask, is this thing for??? Remember we live out in the country. He'll be using it to cut shrub around the fence lines and in the bar ditch (at least that's what he tells me?). Hey, if it makes my Ricky happy, I'm all in!

The Allis-Chalmers mower you're looking at was completely restored by my very talented and perfectionist hubby. If you didn't get to read the original post about the restoration, link here and see the before and after pictures.

My Ricky... what a man! Think I'll keep him...
Just livin' the life, down here in French Lique!

Roadtrip... the end...

We actually had a very uneventful trip. One wreck on the road... a couple of delays due to construction... rain... but only if I was driving... hummmmmm...

I found that some of my favorite things to photograph were road signs....

bridges...

and BIG RIG loads...

We only made one side trip... in South Carolina - we went to (according to their billboard sign) "The World's Biggest Flea Market"... we dubbed it... "The World's Worst Biggest Flea Market"... don't waste the side trip...

Blogging on the road... a good diversion... but not what it's cut out to be...

Glad to be home back in French Lique...

Road Trip!

Ricky and I will be taking a road trip next week. We'll be setting out the day after my 54th birthday; we'll spend our wedding anniversary traveling between Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and finally ending up in North Carolina... it will be soooooo romantic! NOT!

And "why", you say, would a perfectly normal couple in their mid-50's spend Christmas week, including their wedding anniversary, on a road trip....

Well, the story is.... Ricky likes to buy farm equipment on eBay (as many of my regular readers already know)... and most of the time it gets shipped to him here in French Lique.... Last month, during the Thanksgiving Holiday, he bought some farm equipment in North Carolina... "pick up only..." Before he bid, he did ask my opinion... and I did give the "okay", knowing full well when we'd have to go.

I'm actually really looking forward to the trip. We'll spend a night with my sister in Mississippi on our way there... and at least one other night on our way back. (It's nice to have a sister and brother-in-law willing to let you use them for a B&B.) I can't remember the last time my sister and I saw each other during December, even though both our birthdays are in December, along with Christmas. We've just always lived so far apart, it wasn't possible.

Ricky has also promised that we'll do a little antique/junktique shopping... all I have to do is decide where I want to stop. So, we plan on being back home by the 23rd, or 24th... who knows!

The only child still living in French Lique will be Poodle and House sitting... so we're under no constraints to hurry back... Adult children are such a nice thing to have...

Hopefully I'll be posting some beautiful pictures from the road... Have laptop and VPN card, will travel... So stop back back when you have time next week...

But we will be back in time to celebrate Christmas Mass... right here in French Lique.
