New door... needs stain... too cold and windy outside... let's just do it in the kitchen!
I love staining wood and painting walls... what a crazy woman... I know... I love it because you get immediate results...
and voilĂ ... hang the new door... but those windows... what to do... does Dixie have a plan? Of course she does!
Dixie always has a plan! one pane at a time... and so as it was... and...
so it has become... a beautiful door with just enough privacy... aaaahhhhhh..... dee-lightful!
and that dear readers is the story of the door morph... I know it's not Monday; but there are so many projects and so little time... let's call this one... Transformation Thursday... at least this week! One project at a time down here in French Lique...

So many projects, so little time.... The door morph...
In the beginning... just a plain old door... not much personality... functional...

ReplyDeleteDixie, I love, love LOVE your door especially the glass! There always are more projects than time, aren't there? I sometimes wish I could freeze my brain for a day or two so it would quit making new plans to PAINT something! I too love paint. It is just so easy to make a huge change with little money and effort. A job well done, girl!

ReplyDeleteI gotta get me one of these. In fact my hall is so dark due to six dark doors and this is brilliant, you are brilliant. I am off right now to add this to my wish list. Could you drop me a line with how you made them frosted?
Roberta Anne
VERY COOL! I have a French Pocket Door in my batharoom. I covered some of the windows with the peal and stick Window tinting from Lowe's. I would love to do something more permanent like you did? What did you use....a frosting medium? Do you have any pointers?
ReplyDeletei wondered when someone was going to ask how i did the frosted/etched glass... It's not etched or frosted... it's the same stuff you tint your windows with sold at Home Depot! i just measured my windows and cut it to size, followed the directions and put it on... what I love about it is that if you make a mistake, or you get a bubble in it that doesn't go away... you just peel it off and put it back on. It stays on without glue, so if you change your mind and want to go back to plain or maybe even change to stained glass look, you just peel it off and put on something new! I love this stuff!
ReplyDeleteRoberta i needed more light in my hallway too and this was a perfect answer plus its purdy! DIXIE
Love the door replacement. Love the way you fixed the glass in the new door. Fabulous.

ReplyDelete"Holy morphing doors, Batman, that woman can see right through us!!"
ReplyDelete"Not quite, Robin, she can only see partway through us."
"OK, what parts CAN she see?"
HAHA ~~ You've done a great job, Dixie, it's a beautiful way to let light in, but keep out prying eyes.
Hi Dixie,
