If you missed door morph part 1... you can go back and read that here... http://frenchlique.blogspot.com/2009/01/so-many-projects-so-little-time-door.html
In part one of the door morph, the door was nearly complete... except for one little annoying thing! That old brass door knob... the knob, as old as the door... 35 years... and just not pretty... I found a great glass door knob buy on ebay... and Ricky thought they'd fit just fine... but... they didn't. (something about the inside workings of the mechanism... stuff I don't understand... but my Ricky does...).
He went by our local little hardware store, Deptawa's. They have tons of stuff you can't find anywhere else... he found what he thought would work... and then he went to work installing my new door knob.
the new insides of the door knob latch...
and the new latch plate to fit...and voila'... my new door knob... installed! ain't she purdy... ? a perfect match for my new French door! Cost, including freight on ebay & Deptawa's parts... $14. (Good thing Ricky doesn't charge me for labor!)More of my office morph which will be posted at Susan's Metamorphosis Monday.
Makin' it happen down here in French Lique!

ReplyDeleteI love the doorknobs. I have glass doorknobs in my house--the originals from the late 20's.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cool idea about covering the books with vellum--I'll have to file that thought away for safekeeping;-)
