Road Trip!

Ricky and I will be taking a road trip next week. We'll be setting out the day after my 54th birthday; we'll spend our wedding anniversary traveling between Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and finally ending up in North Carolina... it will be soooooo romantic! NOT!

And "why", you say, would a perfectly normal couple in their mid-50's spend Christmas week, including their wedding anniversary, on a road trip....

Well, the story is.... Ricky likes to buy farm equipment on eBay (as many of my regular readers already know)... and most of the time it gets shipped to him here in French Lique.... Last month, during the Thanksgiving Holiday, he bought some farm equipment in North Carolina... "pick up only..." Before he bid, he did ask my opinion... and I did give the "okay", knowing full well when we'd have to go.

I'm actually really looking forward to the trip. We'll spend a night with my sister in Mississippi on our way there... and at least one other night on our way back. (It's nice to have a sister and brother-in-law willing to let you use them for a B&B.) I can't remember the last time my sister and I saw each other during December, even though both our birthdays are in December, along with Christmas. We've just always lived so far apart, it wasn't possible.

Ricky has also promised that we'll do a little antique/junktique shopping... all I have to do is decide where I want to stop. So, we plan on being back home by the 23rd, or 24th... who knows!

The only child still living in French Lique will be Poodle and House sitting... so we're under no constraints to hurry back... Adult children are such a nice thing to have...

Hopefully I'll be posting some beautiful pictures from the road... Have laptop and VPN card, will travel... So stop back back when you have time next week...

But we will be back in time to celebrate Christmas Mass... right here in French Lique.

  1. OK, I'm new here, but does your banner refer to Rio Linda California? And does Rush refer to Limbaugh? Or something/one else?

Anyway have a fabulous road trip and watch out for road ice!

  5. Your banner caught my attention because I'm in Sacramento, but I don't get the Rush reference. I know he did his talk show here before going nationwide, but does he pronounce it funny? Does he say that Rio Linda people mispronounce it? Like French Lee-Cue?

  6. I think Rush is referring to what he believes is the fact that Rio Linda people are a little dense.. I don't know... I've never asked him, but that's the implication?

Do you think people in Rio Linda are dense?

My referance is because I made up the word "Lique" as the French spelling of "Lick"... so I added the referance for effect... since I had so many folks ask me how to pronounce it... and what it meant? Guess they may have been from Rio Linda too?LOL

Hope that satisfies your curiosity... if not, maybe we'll blog about it after the holidays!

  7. Ohhh, you made it up! That's great!

Not that I have any right to call an entire group of people dense, but I guess if you had to pick a dumb area of Sacramento, Rio Linda would be one of them.
