The Road by Cormac McCarthy

If you haven't read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy, I highly recommend that you do. I've now read it twice, which is rare for me. I have so many books on my reading list that I keep it in a spreadsheet - so I really don't have the time to re-read something, except, perhaps, a classic read from long ago. "The Road" is a masterpiece of writing; a tale of a post-apocalyptic world, and the love of a father and son as they travel "The Road". It's interesting, McCarthy's vision of this world; and heart wrenching - the complete and utter love and devotion that the father has for the son and vice-versa.
Well worth the read... and apparently a second read. Oh, and did I mention that this is a Pulitzer Prize winning novel.

Christopher Loves Precious

My youngest grandson is coming to visit grandma and grandpa this weekend. His mom (my daughter) sent this picture today. He is very happy that school is out; that he is taking swimming lessons this summer; that he is coming to south Texas to visit his grandparents; but he is most looking forward to seeing Precious... our poodle.

Boys and dogs.... always special... especially out here in French Lique...

Happy Father's Day from my husband to his 83 year old Dad...

Happy 59th Father's Day Dad

Dad
Every year as I understand more about life...
As I learn more about myself,
As I see more of the world around me...
I realize, and I am grateful for, what a great Dad I've always had in you.
Happy Father's Day,
Love, your son, Richard
My hubby's dad is 83. He asked me to make his dad a card for Father's Day this year, wishing him a Happy 59th Father's Day. He said he didn't know why he started thinking about how many Father's Days his Dad had celebrated, but when he realized it was 59, he was in awe. So I made the above card for my Father-In-Law from his second son; my husband, Richard.

Priceless!

From Left to Right....
Roxy, Pepper & Precious

We adopted two cute 3-year old toy poodles last week... Roxy & Pepper. They're adorable! We paid $65 each for the adoption, plus we made a $20 donation.... ie: $150. Took them to our vet to be checked out. She ran a couple of tests, added some vaccines that the shelter vet hadn't given them and gave them a clear bill of health... almost... $178. The almost, they had bad breath! Real bad. Needed a serious teeth cleaning... $240.50 each... ie: $481. And today, they had their hair done... $43.30. Cost to date for our adorable adopted poodles... $852.30. The value of all the snuggles, kisses and French Liques we've gotten from these two adoptees and our own little girl Precious? PRICELESS!
